Google has expanded its Gemini Enterprise AI platform with a version specifically designed for law firms and legal professionals.

Reuters reports that Gemini Enterprise for Legal is intended to assist with routine and complex legal work, integrates with legal software systems and includes AI agents capable of performing specialized legal and administrative functions. Major firms including Weil Gotshal, Cleary Gottlieb, Freshfields and Williams Connolly are collaborating with Google on development and integration.

Why it matters to court reporters

This isn't a court-reporting product. But it is directly relevant to the future of the legal record.

Google's platform is being connected to legal systems containing litigation evidence, court filings, case-law records, metadata and even oral-argument transcripts. Everlaw says its integration allows Gemini Enterprise for Legal to analyze governed litigation evidence, while CourtListener's integration gives Gemini access to court records, filings and oral-argument transcripts.

That points toward a future in which transcripts and other records are not simply documents delivered at the end of a proceeding. They can become searchable, machine-readable source material for AI-powered litigation analysis.

For court reporters, that makes accuracy, completeness, metadata, searchability and security increasingly important.

The better the underlying record, the more reliable the technology built on top of it can be.
